Amazon.com Customer Reviews
This saw has plenty of power and as far as I'm
concerned the best table on any job site table saw that extends
out to make cutting sheet goods a breeze compared to other
saws. The fence is good but not great as others have noted. The
fence has several adjustments to square to the blade and
increase clamping power. When ripping sheet goods it doesn't
take much to bump out of alignment, but for cutting normal
material it works great. I fixed the problem of cutting large
material with a set of irwin quick-grip clamps that stay with
the saw that gives me the staying power for the fence when I
need to rip sheet goods. Almost everything on this saw is
adjustable to true it besides lateral blade adjustment like on
reviewer stated, but do any job site table saws have this
feature? The riving knife is great and can be adjusted easily
and the blade guard with anti-kickback paws is nice but the
riving knife and being very alert is enough for me. The
materials and build quality are great and this saw feels solid
compared to Dewalts which feels cheap in comparison, but I do
say the Dewalt's fence is a better design. This saw is hefty
with the stand, but I can easily lift it into my truck though I
am not a small guy. I'd rather have the power and table
capacity to cut everything that I need rather then worrying
about the heft or having to use clamps when cutting large
material. As for the no available zero clearance throat plate
that one reviewer complained about, try rockler woodworking make your own kit
(works great).

#2 - Makita 2703 15 Amp 10-Inch Benchtop Table
Saw
Description
This Makita table saw is powerful and lightweight.
It has a 15-amp motor with the capacity to rip 4x material in a
single pass, while still cutting smoothly. It has an electric
brake to ensure immediate and controlled modifications while
working on the broad 27 x 22-inch table. Other features include
a dead-on cam locking rip fence, a large handle for easy depth
setting, and accurate rack-and-pinion bevel adjustment.
Positive stops are located at 90 and 45 degrees. Purchase
includes a carbide-tipped blade, rip fence, miter gauge, and
no. 19 and no. 13-22 wrenches.
Amazon.com Review
For the price, Makita's 10-inch portable table saw
is a solid choice for the job site. The 15 amp motor packs
plenty of power, and with a 3-9/16-cut capacity, this saw will
rip four-by material on a single pass. This saw also has an
electric brake, so adjustments between cuts are both safer and
quicker to make. The table's a good size, too: 27 by 22 inches.
We also really like the saw's new cam-lock rip fence, which is
much easier to adjust than double-locking designs. The bevel
adjust has a pretty good rack-and-pinion design (metal,
admittedly, would be better). All in all, this saw strikes a
nice balance between weight (only 40 pounds) and vibration
(minimal). Simply put, the Makita 2703 is a solid saw, better
for the job site (quick, powerful, lightweight) than the home
shop. For the shop, we'd recommend a saw with a more accurate
fence. --Jon Groebner

Amazon.com Customer Review
The Makita portable table saw in one form or
another, has been around for about twenty years, and will no
doubt continue to be around for quite a few more. It was being
thrown into the open bed of a pickup truck on a rainy overcast
day long before either DeWalt or Bosch were ever a jobsite
presence. It is probably one the most popular but mishandled,
abused and poorly maintained tools on any given jobsite. The
design has improved and changed over the years on it's way to
becoming the 10-inch 2703 but has always been very solid and
capable, unlike many of the people I've seen attempting to
operate it with satisfactory results. This saw was designed to
be a rugged heavy-duty general-purpose portable jobsite table
saw for use with or without table legs and as such, excels in
this area. I'm not sure a professional woodworker would want to
attempt to build their heirloom quality furniture or custom
cabinetry with any portable table saw, but I do know that with
the proper setup it can been done successfully with this saw.
Overall, I personally feel that with the combination of price,
durability and capability the 2703X1 is easily the best
portable table saw value on the market today.

Amazon.com Customer Review
Makita did it again. They built a great table saw
with a great motor equipped with a blade brake and plenty of
power. The table extension is great for ripping large sheets.
The major downside again is in the rip fence. I don't
understand why Makita engineers can't figure out how to build a
rip fence that locks tight and is easy to adjust tracking
parallel with the blade. Makita's older more portable model
2703 has the same problem - a poor rip fence. I love Makita
motors and overall build, but the rip fences are a huge
drawback. The other negative is the weight, but this could be
necessary to get the power of this saw. The cast frame that
holds the motor is quite beefy as is the table - providing a
great sturdy saw but not so portable.
